But when a person wants a reading how can they tell the difference between a metaphysical practitioner who is doing their work to heal vs to steal ( your money!) ?
The MSESP Suggest that
“First a sitter needs to determine whether they need a psychic or a medium.
Not all Psychics are Mediums BUT all Mediums are Psychic. So, it is best first to know the difference between them so a sitter know s what to expect from a session. “

A Medium's purpose is to provide proof of an afterlife by perceiving validating information from the otherside.

( metaphysical Practitioner) they want, they will need to be armed with the knowledge of what to look for to spot an unethical practitioner.”
According to the Metaphysical Society of Ethics Standards and Practices here are some red flags that can occur during a reading.
Cursing
If a MP claims there is a curse on the sitter and offers to remove it for an additional charge... Take your money and run! A legit MP always honors your Free will. Free will is our ability to make choices in life. If we couldn't make choices, we wouldn't be able to learn lessons. Free will is how we create our paths and shape our future! No psychic has that kind of power that they can change your future by removing a curse.
Sponging
Some unethical readers will hold off information until the end of a session and offer to tell the sitter "If you pay more money."
Suggestion: When a sitter sets an appointment with a MP, they should ask how long the session is BEFORE the session starts.
Padding
Be aware if an MP is filling the readings will to many flowery compliments. Yes, the otherside can bring through information of how a person looks but too many flowery compliments sometimes can be a technique an MP may knowing or unknowingly use. It is a false way to gain trust during reading.
Fishing
A sitter should be aware if they fund themselves giving TOO much information to the MP. This happens when the MP asks too many questions! More than likely the MP is giving their opinion back to rather than giving you validation. Validation IS SO IMPORTANT.
Psychically Attacking or luring.
It is unethical for an MP to approach an unsuspected person and read them without their permission. Just because the Practitioner is getting information, doesn't give them the right to approach a person and launch into a reading. If an ethical MP did receive a message for someone, their guides will present an opportunity for the information to get to them. Some Psychic or Psychic Mediums may psychically attack someone just to lure them in to a full session. THIS IS UNETHICAL. The Sitter or in this case the unsuspecting sitter has the right to say "STOP, I did not ask for a reading here."
Medical Advice.
Be wary of an MP that gives Medical advice with out keeping your Free will intact. It is illegal for an MP to diagnose you. Only An MD can!
Cold reading
Cold reading is when an unethical practitioner reads facial cues, makes judgement and validations off the clothes your are wearing. If an MP gives elevator eyes during a session and no validation-this could be a red flag.
Dialing direct to the otherside
Is when a medium who claims they can summon up whom ever a sitter wishes to hear from. Be very wary of this. Sadly, a sitter may be so hurt from losing someone that they may be tempted to see someone who claims they can dial direct to the otherside. Remember that there are some bad practitioners in this field that prey on the vulnerability of a sitter who is in mourning. As a sitter, if a sitter sets this high standard that NO ONE can dial direct to the otherside, .the validation will be more rewarding for then when an ethical practitioner helps them connect to the otherside. Who ever is suppose to come through will.
Many MP's work differently and utilize different abilities and tools during a reading. But one thing holds true, the information coming from a MP should be validating (giving you information about you and your energy) and should be statement of energy and information that is coming through, meaning you didn't feed the MP with the information. To heal, help and inspire should be one of the main goals of a practitioner. When you leave a session you should feel helped and also have some light shed on your journey because of the validating information that came through
